A little humor for your life

This past week has been a real drag with no football around. The only thing we have to look forward to this week (besides another article about Payton Manning able/unable to win the "big one") is......Groundhog's Day!!!

This video should give you a good laugh. It's short and sweet, check it out.

Groundhog attacks reporters and fans!

How would you feel it people woke YOU up at the ass crack of dawn when it's 10 degrees outside?

Rex's Championship Pix

Well the championships are upon us and we have some very good matchups. The teams I'm picking are my 2 favorites.

Saints < Bears
Patriots < Colts

Now I know the Pats - Colts game is a gutsy call, but still I like my pick. The Colts have a better pass defense and the Patriots' primary offensive attack is the pass. But they can mix you up and run beween 45 and 60 times a game. The Bears have the Saints locked up. I've been hearing rumors that Bernard Berrian, Cedric Benson, Brian Urlacher and Devin Hester have been sneaking down to Solider Field to drown the playing surface. The rumor is that they have been turning on the sprinkler system under the tarp, so the Saints will have to try and play in at least a foot of standing water.

But hey! Those are only rumors.

Championship Week Picks!

Sorry guys, there won't be any team lineups the week. No, it isn't that I'm too lazy. The real reason is NFL.com only lets you change 4 players from your previous week. So, it depends on who your team is. Although, if you were smart you went with my recommended team (they got me 107 points this week!). It was kind of hard to go wrong with your RBs though.

Anyways, it is Championship week in the NFL and here are my fearless picks! I will be the first to admit I'm not the best at this, I seem to go 2-2 every week. But hey, it's not like you're paying for my advice, right?

AFC Championship Game: I'm taking the Indianapolis Colts for 2 reasons (and 1 lame reason):

  1. The Colts are at home. This is a huge factor in Sunday's game because the Colts play horrible in New England (especially in the cold weather). Now I'm not saying that Brady and the Pats are bad in domes, but it at least puts them on even ground. The Dome noise should cause the Pats offense a lot of trouble.
  2. Peyton Manning. Manning hasn't played as well as he does during the season so far (in the postseason), but he is still managing the game well. He will be spending the entire week going over film and preparing this game. I expect him to be able to read the Pats Defense well, and continue to manage the game. With the Pats strong run D it is going to be on his shoulders to not make mistakes, and to make the big plays. We all know he has the talent and the talent around him to do so. He is overdue.
  3. (This is the lame reason): Vinatieri. As a Steeler fan I hate his guts. I can't stand how the Pats won two of their Super Bowls and most of their playoff and regular season games. If it weren't for him, they wouldn't have won half of those games. I think the Colts will be able to jump ahead in this one and Brady will finally be unable to lead a miracle drive in the last minute to win the game by 1 or 2 points because of his kicker. Gostowski will choke.
NFC Championship Game: I'm taking the New Orleans Saints for one reason: The Bears are at home. Let me explain...

In 9 games at home this season (8 regular season, 1 Playoff game) the Chicago Bears gave up 107 yards rushing per game. While that isn't a ridiculous amount, the number also includes games against very poor running teams. When the Bears are actually facing a strong running game they are giving up close to 140 rushing yards a game. The Saints are exactly that, a strong running team. The Chicago Bears can't stop the run up the middle. Deuce McAllister was a beast all season (and last week too) at running up the gut. He is going to have a HUGE game for the Saints.

I expect Grossman to start trying to do to much and lose his confidence. The best part about playing Rex Grossman is as soon as you rattle him, he chokes. If the Saints are going to win, which they should, they need to do two simple things: Run up the middle and put pressure on Rex.

That's just my two cents, I'm sure some of you will disagree. I guess we'll see what happens Sunday!

Winning Team for $300 or Less - Part 2

Last week I posted three teams that would you get you the most bang for your buck in NFL.com's Fantasy Football Playoff Leagues. Unfortunately if you listened to me you probably aren't winning right now, but you shouldn't be in last place either. The teams I created seemed to be average-joe type teams so you should be sitting somewhere right in the middle (like me!).

For the Divisional Round I have created 3 teams that you can choose from that will get you (and I) back on track.

Here is my featured team:
Quarterback: Jeff Garcia $25
Running Back 1:
LaDainian Tomlinson $85
Running Back 2: Brian Westbrook $56
Wide Receiver 1: Reggie Wayne $40
Wide Receiver 2:
Marques Colston $32
Tight End:
Jerramy Stevens $9
Kicker:
Adam Vinatieri $23
Defense:
San Diego Chargers $28
Total Cost: $298

Alternative Lineup #1:
Quarterback: Drew Brees $65
Running Back 1:
LaDainian Tomlinson $85
Running Back 2:
Jamal Lewis $37
Wide Receiver 1:
Bernard Berrian $23
Wide Receiver 2:
Marques Colston $32
Tight End:
Jerramy Stevens $9
Kicker:
Stephen Gostkowski $21
Defense:
Seattle Seahawks $24
Total Cost: $296

Alternative Lineup #2:
Quarterback: Jeff Garcia $25
Running Back 1:
LaDainian Tomlinson $85
Running Back 2:
Jamal Lewis $37
Wide Receiver 1:
Reggie Wayne $40
Wide Receiver 2:
Marques Colston $32
Tight End:
Ben Watson $18
Kicker:
Matt Stover $26
Defense:
Chicago Bears $38
Total Cost: $300

After putting together those lineups, I'm really torn between my featured lineup and Alternative #2. I think those are both very solid teams. It's a tough call, good luck this weekend!

Here are my picks for this weekend's games:

San Diego def. New England
Baltimore def. Indianapolis
New Orleans def. Philadelphia
Chicago def. Seattle

RexGlassman's Playoff Picks

Well, the post-season is upon us and there is all but nothing to do but sit back and watch as I get all my picks right!

Saturday Game(s)
Indianapolis > Baltimore
Philadelphia > New Orleans

Sunday Game(s)
Seattle <> = Team on the Left < = Team on the right

Well, those are my picks! I thought the Bears were a little bit of a stretch but I am confident in my pick and I believe Rex is going to have a great game.

The winner will receive a 25$ gift card. Learn more about the competition and how you can join FREE by going here. Hope to see you join, good luck if you do!

My playoffs picks are as follows:

Wild-Card Weekend Winners
Kansas City/Indianapolis - Colts
Dallas/Seattle – Cowboys
NY Jets/New England – NY Jets
NY Giants/Philadelphia – Eagles

Super Bowl Winner Pick: San Diego Chargers

Sleeper Pick: NY Jets

Mac Poker

This website gets a little off-topic on the whole sportsbetting, but I figured to share it with you anyways. If you have a mac computer this should particularly interest you. Apparently not all poker websites support macs, or it is different. I'm not exactly sure the case, because I have a PC.

Mac Poker Online has tons of reviews for different websites, on which you should use. They have reviews of PartyPoker.com and FullTiltPoker. I didn't like an affiliate program they talked about, it gave me errors, so I didn't bother with it.

Partybets

With the NFL Playoffs upon us I am going to be sharing a few different sites you can participate on. One of those being PartyBets.Com. With partybets you can place bids on several different sports, including football, basketball, and golf. Pretty funny, you can even bet on politics. Aside from sports betting, partybets also has Poker and other games to play for money. If your on this site let me know how you like it, if not give it a try and register.

Stock Program

I hate writing about press releases that don't make sense. This has nothing really to do with stock options newsletter at all. Anyhow, PowerOptions is a program that helps you decide which stocks to invest your money in. It lets you compare, contrast, analyze, and all of that other good stuff. Pretty much whatever you would need to figure out what stock you should invest in.
What seems to jump out at the most at me is the extras they offer. You get a 14day free trial to see if you like the product. Another great feature that often goes overlooked is toll-free support. Thats the best feature to have when your confused and stuck on something.

The battle of the Seat Covers

The fight has already begun about our first car. Its gone from seat covers to the actual car model. We haven't purchased it yet, but that hasn't stopped my girlfriend from deciding what patterns she wants.
I can't really see myself buying this type of thing online, but to get a better idea about things like floormats, and auto seat covers check out http://www.seatcoversunlimited.com
There appears to be a wide variety of what you can get for your car or truck, whatever it may be.
Could you imagine your car fit with Cow Seat Covers? lol
